A Metal Sound That Sank Deep Into My Body (Part 4)

My friend answered.

"Loudness," he said.

Which country's band is that?

He answered again.

"Japan."

Wait, what? The lyrics were in English. There's no way they're Japanese.

"They're Japanese."

"The bassist is Taiji, formerly of X Japan."

I couldn't believe they were Japanese.

It was nothing like Chage and Aska — surely they had to be foreign. There was no way a band this heavy existed in Japan.

That's just what I assumed, on my own.

The song that hit me hardest was "Slaughter House".

I couldn't believe it.

A guitar tone like the roar of a dinosaur. Who on earth was playing this?

The guitar solo alone was insane.

And that drum intro — so cool... The vocalist's shout was incredibly cool too.

A metal sound that sank deep into the core of my body...

I thought, I have to copy this. It's ridiculously cool.

My friend told me it was impossible, that I should give up.

Impossible? Watch me. I'll be able to play it within a year. I'll play it at the school festival in my second year of high school. Absolutely. With that vow in my heart, my days of practice began.

Oh, and as for the effects pedal I was using back then...

Dare to wear the difference. Shop the straps here.
