Episode 28: Mr. Nakamoto
Since the show was presented by JAL, the program covered our flights.
We were told an apartment had been set aside for us to stay in.
It was my first time in Okinawa.
The first broadcast was introductions, a live performance of the song that got us through the first round, and the announcement of our first theme.
The theme was something like "What is the future?" I don't remember exactly. But the moment it was announced, a title was already in my head: "Up to Me."
Until the next broadcast a week later, we worked part-time from 9 to 5 at Ashibinaa, the outlet mall in Okinawa.
Finish work, head back to the apartment, write the song... We repeated that, and the week was gone before we knew it.
The second broadcast.
We performed the song live. The result: a passing score, just barely...
Then the second theme was announced.
We were to bring in someone from a local shop and write a song for that shop.
After the broadcast, a man came up to us.
His name was Mr. Nakamoto. He'd taken a liking to us, and he took us out to dinner.
We talked about all kinds of things over the meal.
After dinner, he took us to a bar. What we found there was a shock...
To be continued.
