Episode 16: Where Does the Shin-Tamagawa Line Go?
I did want to go to college.
I was interested in law, so it came down to going to law school while also doing music, or skipping college entirely for music.
I agonized over it.
My parents said, "Do what you like." "Go into whatever job you love."
So I figured — if I went to college, I could just get results in music within those four years.
But reality wasn't that easy.
I bombed the entrance exams.
I decided that if a year of ronin study didn't work out, I'd do music instead. Somehow, after that one year, I got into college.
Right away, I joined the light music club to look for a vocalist.
That's where a good-looking guy came up to me.
"Do you know how to restring a guitar?"
Back then he looked just like Kotaro Koizumi — a fresh-faced, handsome guy.
"I'm Yuu! Nice to meet you."
He apparently didn't know how to restring an acoustic guitar.
I restrung it for him right there.
Cheerful and outgoing, and since we were in the same law program, we hit it off fast.

Yuu lived alone in Futako-Shinchi.
We'd often talk about the future at his place until sunrise after class.
Whenever he got drunk, Yuu always hummed the same tune.
"Where does the Shin-Tamagawa Line go~♫ Futako-Shinchi is my home~♫"
I played him my own original song "Bird's Footprints," which I'd recorded on tape back in high school.
We both laughed so hard. Cracked up 😂 It was so cheesy 😂 — a metalhead writing and singing some sentimental song.
To be continued.
