Episode 37: Yoyogi Park

Episode 37: Yoyogi Park

That Saturday morning, I went ahead with a street show at Yoyogi Park.

I had CDs ready to sell. The mic and the amp were set. Everything was ready.

We had three songs. All we could do was play the three, then play the three again, then the three again 😂

At first, nobody was there.

But little by little, people started to gather, and by the time we finished the three songs, the self-made CDs I had brought sold out in no time.

This... could make money.

If I bring CDs every time, it might add up to quite a bit. That's what I thought.

For a while, I played in Shibuya on weekdays, and at Yoyogi Park on either Saturday or Sunday.

At Yoyogi Park, there were also what looked like groups of aspiring idols, probably around elementary school age, performing, with swarms of girls (elementary schoolers?) gathered around them.

I couldn't believe they were doing live shows in places like this while still in elementary school. Already feeling life's survival of the fittest at that age. How tough they are.

In the middle of all this, a man came up and spoke to me.

Apparently he worked at a live music venue in Shibuya, and he invited us to play a show. And with no ticket quota.

Thank you, thank you.

Good things do happen when you keep at it 😂

With the live house show confirmed, the plan was to build fans through street performances and get them to come to the show. That's where it starts, I thought.

To be continued.
