Episode 46: My First Leather Craft

I had no idea what I needed to start working with leather.

A quick search told me that Asakusabashi is packed with leather shops, so I decided to go and see for myself.

There, scraps of leather were piled up, selling for 100 yen each.

That seemed like a cheap way to fail. So I decided to make something simple, a keychain, and give it to my daughter.

I cut a heart out of pink leather and hand-stitched my daughter's initial, "N," onto it.
Here it is 👇

The stitches are uneven, the edge of the heart is wavy, and I hadn't even finished the edges.
Looking at it now, it's pretty uncool 😂

When I handed it over, my nine-year-old daughter's reaction was:
"What is this?"

It's not funny.

But I really did stitch it for her.
The straps I make today began with this rough little heart.

To be continued.
